Asana Immersion - Standing Poses

Explore the fundamentals, delve deeper into your practice
Fundamental knowledge of the yoga asanas is essential in providing
the physical foundation necessary for a full immersion into your yoga
practice. This is the first in a series of monthly Iyengar Yoga workshops,
which will explore both the groundwork of yoga asana practice and how
to delve deeper into the experience of the poses many hidden aspects.
This month we will study standing poses, which develop
the strength,
stamina, and flexibility needed for a healthy and vibrant yoga practice.
Topics covered include:
- Correct alignment techniques to keep you free of injury
- What to focus on when moving in and out of the poses
- How to direct your attention inward during the poses
- How to evolve your yoga practice beyond the physical
Iyengar Yoga is taught in the style of Indian Yoga master Shri BKS Iyengar,
one of the most renowned modern day teachers of Yoga. By developing
awareness through precision and correct postural alignment, Iyengar Yoga
enables the yoga practitioner to penetrate and deepen their experience
of the poses, creating a grounded, mature, and evolved personal
yoga practice.
Participants should have at least 6 months
previous yoga
practice to to attend workshop.
Workshop fees:
$30 on or before May 24, $40 after.
All proceeds from workshop will be donated as aid
to support victims of the cyclone in Myanmar (Burma).
